How to tell stories

Writer
I write about visual storytelling and how readers can connect to unfamiliar experience using the multimodal features of the graphic memoir. In my doctorate I explored the use of stories to help bring about social change and wrote a graphic novel called ‘Broken Glass’. It Is a story a young girl’s experience of forced migration and the long-lasting impact the traumatic event had on her life. Published writing examples include:

Teacher
I have built curriculum in photography, design and visual media. I teach short courses in narrative construction and visual storytelling. I have presented at conferences, developed and delivered courses and workshops.
I run a series of workshops on developing personal creativity using the disciplined practice of a Drawing a Day.

I present at conferences on topics relating to graphic novel representation. I have shown my artwork in a number of visual art exhibitions particularly related to my Drawing a Day collection. Presentation examples include:
